It’s possible to keep your house clean and tidy without getting stressed. Just as long as you remember not to get overly obsessive after all a house is to be lived in. As such, a little bit of mess never hurt anyone.
However, there comes a time when there are limits and things can easily get you down. That’s why within our blog we often provide storage advise, along with tips and ideas for a cleaner, tidier house.
How to Keep Your House Clean and Tidy
Clean on the Go and Nightly Clean-ups
It may sound like you’ll always be doing housework, but that’s not the case at all. As one of the best ways to keep your home clean and tidy is not to mess it up in the first place!
Of course, it may not always be that practical – especially in shared accommodation or with small children running around. However, try to at least put a few things away before relaxing in the evening. As in return, it will help you wake up with a clear mind for the morning.
Organise the Washing Up
Not everyone has the luxury of a dishwasher, so doing the dishes can soon become a daunting task, even after one mealtime. Before tackling it all manually, pile up the plates and separate out the cutlery. Maybe the pots and pans can soak overnight?
Even if you don’t physically do it all straight away, just by being organised, the kitchen won’t look as much of a mess to start with.
Store Cleaning Products Neatly
If you can’t easily get to a bottle of disinfectant, or the vacuum cleaner is rarely on charge, you simply won’t use them as often.
By keeping your cleaning products organised and topped up, it’s no hardship to give the kitchen surfaces a quick wipe down. Likewise, there’s no point keeping the vacuum cleaner hidden at the back of the wardrobe!
Take it One Room at a Time
When it comes to making your house clean and tidy when you’ve already let it get the better of you, small steps go a long way. Aim to tidy one room at a time, rather than a bit here and a bit there.
It’s often a good idea to start with the bedroom. As otherwise, you’ll go to sleep surrounding by a constant reminder. Then, in the morning always remember to make your bed. As when it comes to last thing at night, you can at least feel like you’ve achieved something, no matter how small.
De-clutter your House
Then there’s the big clear out, whether that be a spring clean or completely starting from fresh. It’s a good way to throw away items you no longer need or get ready to put others into storage.
After all, by decluttering you can free up space for things that really need it. Just by sorting out some old clothes, you’ll soon discover you have more storage space than you realised.
